Nast, Thomas (German-American, 1840-1902), Group of 3 Harper's Weekly Cartoons includes: The Brains, 1871, engraving, signed in plate, image 4.75 x 4.5 inches, frame 9.25 x 8.25 inches; WITH The Big Things, 1867, engraving, signed in plate, image 6.25 x 4.25 inches, frame 10.25 x 8.25 inches; AND WITH A Group of Vultures Waiting for the Storm to Blow Over, 1871, signed in plate, image 14.75 x 10.75 inches, frame 20.5 x 15.25 inches. Thomas Nast was an editorial cartoonist often considered to be the "Father of the American Cartoon". He was a critic of Democratic Representative "Boss" Tweed and the Tammany Hall Democratic party political machine.
Condition
