HENDRIX JIMI: (1942-1970) American rock guitarist and singer. An excellent and extremely rare vintage signed double album record sleeve for the Jimi Hendrix Experience's Electric Ladyland (1968; catalogue number 2RS 6307) released by Reprise Records, America, and produced by Hendrix, the front cover featuring a hazy red and yellow image of Hendrix in a head and shoulders pose, from a photograph by Karl Ferris taken whilst Hendrix was performing at the Saville Theatre in London. Signed by Hendrix in bold black ink to a clear area of the cover, 'Stay Sweet, Love Always, Jimi Hendrix'. Records still present. Signed album sleeves by Hendrix are of the utmost rarity and highly desirable. Some very light, minor scuffing and age wear, largely to the edges, VG Provenance: The present lot is accompanied by a statement from a previous owner stating that he acquired the album from a Pop Memorabilia auction at Bonhams [in December 2002]. Electric Ladyland is the third and final studio album created by the Jimi Hendrix Experience and represented the band's most commercially successful release and its only number one album. The album features a cover of All Along the Watchtower, which became the band's best-selling single, and today Electric Ladyland is revered as one of the greatest rock records of all time.
