Chinese Qing Dynasty Blue and White Crane Porcelain Brush Pot On Carved Hardwood Stand. Carved in cylindrical, round and straight body, close mouth lip, raised with round flat foot base. Hand painted ornamentations are rendered all in white and blue color, depicted of many cranes relax beside Lishui rivers, rocky, and bellow dense tree. The crane symbolizes longevity as well as wisdom. An embroidery of a crane formed part of the regalia of the top rank of Imperial officials, so can symbolize the wish for promotion to a high official position. A crane is often portrayed with a tortoise longevity or a deer longevity and riches. The underside unglazed, revealed the pale-creme ground revealed and dark greyish brown spotted firing marks and edge-cut foot rim.
