Description
"Prayer (the Sabbath Blessing)", 1953. Color woodcut, SLR and dated in margin. Dimensions: 34"" x 27"". Unframed. Best known for his Metropolitan Award winning woodcut, The Final Agony, Feldman excelled in the medium of woodcut. Beginning in 1952, he submitted dozens of important woodcuts to juried print exhibitions. His talent was well recognized garnering many awards to include the Tonner Prize of the American Color Print Society; Childe Hassam purchase prize of American Institute of Arts and Letters; 1953 Honorable Mention Seattle Art Museum; Northwest Printmakers competition; the Purchase Prize in exhibition “College Prints Youngstown University, Ohio. In addition to the MoMA show, “Prayer” was exhibited at the 1952 Dey Gosse Gallery, NYC; The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts; Brooklyn Museum 1953; Seventh National Print Annual Exhibition, Essex Art Association, 1953, and the Walter Feldman Exhibition, Bell Gallery, Brown Univ., 1978."
