Description
Charcoal on paper. 9 3/4" x 7 1/4". Comes framed. The original drawing for Passaconoway #3, 1918. A deftly drawn charcoal by Gardiner on a trip to the White Mountain School artist enclave in New Hampshire. More than 400 artists were inspired by the unfettered landscape vistas and painted in the White Mountains during the 19th century, including many of the famous Hudson River Artists such as Thomas Cole. Gardiner joined Provincetown printmakers in advancing American printmaking. Her scenes effortlessly capture landscape and people in endearing moments. Member of PAC, Providence Watercolor Club & California Printmakers Society. Her works are in many museum collections including a 1987 Newport Art Museum Exhibition, Master of the Woodblock.
