A George III black lacquered tall case clock with rocking ship automaton
fourth quarter 18th century
The arched brass dial with silvered chapter ring, with Roman hours and Arabic minutes with date aperture and subsidiary seconds dial to the engraved matte center, the twin train movement striking on a bell.
height 95in (241cm); width 20in (51cm); depth 9in (23cm)
Provenance:
Property from an English collector.

Condition

Structurally sound. WIth overall fading to surface. Some areas of inpainting and infill. Scattered losses evident. Shrinkage cracks to plinth. With pendulum and weights. Dial appears to be lacking the name plate to the arch. Currently maintaining power and striking correctly. Working condition not guaranteed.
