NUNN (American/Texas 1928-1999) A SUITE OF PRINTS IN A HANDMADE TRUNK, "In Search of Reality," 1988-1991, leather-covered domed trunk on stand with green baize lined interior composed of six compartments housing framed lithographs on paper, each signed in margin in pencil L/R, "Ancel E. Nunn," comprising "The Antagonist," 1/12; "The Resurrectionist," 1/12; "Opposing Forces," 1/12; "Dialectic and the New Synthesis," 1/12; "Parental Guidance Discarded," 1/12; "Reality and a Scheme," 1/12; each framed 25 1/2 x 33 1/2", the trunk exterior fitted with three windows displaying three photolithographic open edition signed prints, "Parental Guidance Discarded;" "Dialectic and the New Synthesis;" and "Reality and a Scheme;" trunk height: 37", width: 43", depth: 23 1/2". Note: Ancel Nunn was born in Seymour, Texas, and began the serious study of art at an early age. He served in the US Army Reserve and saw active intermittent periods of active duty from 1947-1969. In 1969 he retired with the rank of Major and dedicated himself to art full-time. His works are in private and public collections throughout the United States and Europe. This trunk was designed and built by the artist to hold these lithographs.

The trunk has surface wear, rubbing and losses to strap-work, patina, repairs, one foot present and unattached, paint losses, wear and occasional lift of brass tacking, minor wear to frames, mostly at corners. The framed lithographs inside the trunk are in good condition with no visible signs of damage.
