Valery Tsarikovsky is an internationally known and very well respected artist better known as Tsar. Tsar was born on May 29th, 1952 in Kiev, Russia. He attended the College of Art in Russia and graduated in 1975 as an architecture major. Then in 1979 Tsar left Russia with his wife and daughter to come to the United States. It was in the U.S. that Tsars career as an artist began and immediately flourished. In 1986 Tsar was invited to exhibit his work at a highly respected and star studded event in the Dominican Republic. It was at this show that Tsars paintings were first viewed by many important people and celebrities such as Frank Sinatra. The show became such a success that his paintings remained on exhibition for three months. He followed up this success in 1987 as he joined the Salmagundi Club and won their First Place Art Club Award the same year he joined. These were just the beginning of the awards for Tsar. In 2000 he was selected to appear in the millennium edition of Whos Who in American Art.Tsar has a unique approach to painting known as Alla Prima which is the term for an artist painting on location. Because of his incredible talent Tsar is able to start and complete a painting completely on location. This allows him to truly capture the nuance and subtleties of his subjects; he is able to give his paintings real personality. Tsar has a unique talent for painting both street scenes and bistros. He has always enjoyed the spontaneity of painting both American and French bistro and bar scenes. He paints the people inside the establishments just as he sees them and enjoys conveying their interactions. Regardless if he is painting a vibrant street scene or a dark, intimate bistro Tsar is able to capture every little detail of the area in which he is painting. All of this comes together to make Tsar one of the premier Alla Prima artists in the world today.Tsar is a true impressionist in the school of Monet, Pissaro, Renoir, Lautrec, Van Gogh, Sargent and his now deceased friend Arbit Blatas. When asked why he enjoys painting Tsar said, "Wherever I am, here is my studio; it's a joy doing art! I would like to make life better, to touch hearts of others, to bring light and happiness to the world, to record our time for many generations to come, as it has been done before by great artists!"
