A very rare double issue is 4 and 5 in one magazine of Zhar-Ptitsa, a literary and art magazine published by the Russian emigration from 1921 to 1926 in Berlin and Paris. This lot is issue 4-5 published in 1921. Circulation is 300 copies. The magazine is richly illustrated in color with the late artworks of contemporary Russian artists, such as Ivan Bilibin, Nicholas Roerich, and George Loukomski. The texts are in German and Russian, typed in pre-reform Russian spelling. Zhar-ptitsa or Firebird is a magical creature from Slavic mythology, the captor of the bird is said to get his wishes fulfilled. Rare Antiquarian Books And Magazines For Collectors.
