Description

A Renaissance Revival Carved Walnut Tall Case Clock
Circa 1890
playing a Whittington eight-gong or Westminster four-gong musical movement, the movement signed Elite.
Height 101 1/4 inches.
This lot is located in Chicago.

Condition

With three weight, case key, winding key and pendulum. Case key functions properly. All three chambers take a wind. The clock winds, runs and strikes, though it is likely that the hour and minute hands need to be repositioned for the appropriate strike to occur. The escapement advances as it should. The bottom board is loose and needs repaired. The case has a dull patina with craquelure and separation in the varnish, as well as whiteish tape residue on one side.Condition reports are available upon request. All lots are sold "as is," in the condition they are in at the time of the auction. The physical condition of lots can vary due to age, normal wear and tear, previous damage, and restoration.
