Description
Mid 19th century English ebonized bracket/mantel clock having two wind holes, with tiered step top and plinth base, Jacobs and Lucas, Whiteriargate Hull, signed to face. With key. Bethel Jacobs was a watch and clockmaker in Hull, England, from 1838 to 1872 and developed a partnership as Jacobs & Lucas from 1851 to 1858. Jacobs worked to a very high standard and thus was awarded a royal warrant, in 1854. It’s worth noting that the clock features a pull repeat and that the maker’s name is finely engraved on the backplate. [17 1/2" H x 12" W x 8 1/2"D]. Wear and loss to finish, marks and wear to frame.
