EISENHOWER DWIGHT D.: (1890-1969) American General of World War II, later American President 1953-61. Vintage signed and inscribed 11 x 14 photograph of Eisenhower seated in a three quarter length pose. Signed in bold brown fountain pen ink to the lower white border, 'best wishes from Dwight D Eisenhower', with an additional printed inscription 'For: The Students of Redrice School, Andover, England'. Some slight corner and surface creasing, predominantly at the head of the image, and a small tear to the upper edge, G Red Rice House, near Andover in Hampshire, was used by the military during World War II and was visited by Eisenhower in the run-up to D-Day. After the war it became home to Redrice School and Eisenhower again visited when he was in England for the funeral of Sir Winston Churchill in 1965, presenting the current photograph to the school.
