Circa late 1800's-early 1900, a very beautiful large heavy silk Canton shawl with 2 corners with oriental figurals, architectual pagodas, and the other two corners with large chrysanthemum flowers, stunning shawl.
This Canton shawl is a wearable work of art and a lovely heavy silk shawl with tight hand embroidery white silk floss on a white colored silk ground with knotted macrame fringe on four sides.
This shawl has slightly rounded corners and is skillfully finished with long hand knotted white silk fringes with a macrame top hand knotted in a beautiful net design, just beautiful! The fringes are attached to the silk by hand. The piece is worthy of collecting, displaying or wearing.

CONDITION
In good antique condition with no holes, no repairs. However there are scattered old age oxidation storage stains, as shown in photos. With a careful soaking these stains should disappear. Messy fringe could use a combing, slightly tangled, but not bad.
Embroidery is tight and intact thruout. There is no apparent damage to the embroidery or the body of the shawl aside from very slight anomalies, very few and very minor "loosening" consistent with age and rare use and decades of storage.

APPROXIMATE MEASUREMENT
61" x 60" not including its 15" fringe on all four sides. Macrame measures 5”, fringe measures 10”.
