Letter by Richard R. Fisk to A. Jay Kelly Describing Battle of Roanoke. Describes boats running into sand bars. "Gun boats began to fire at half past eleven o'clock" "I saw the balls strike all around our boat" "We has not been on the land more than twenty minutes when Henry Howard was shot through both cheeks of his ass". Richard R. Fisk of the 21st Mass Regiment died on November 27, 1863 and was buried in Knoxville, TN. See photos for condition and details.
