Grouping related to Chang and Eng Bunker, the original “Siamese twins.” Lot includes: a carte de visite (CDV) photograph of Chang and Eng Bunker, a small 19th c. porcelain figurine depicting Chang/Eng, and a copy of the biography “The Two,” by Irving and Amy Wallace.

CDV verso bears the photographer’s imprint of “Masury,” whose studio was located in Boston. Clarity, contrast, and condition of the image is excellent. The figurine measures nearly four inches tall, no chips or damage.

Chang and Eng Bunker were conjoined twins born in 1811 in Siam, which ia now Thailand. They became known as the "Siamese Twins" and were exhibited as a curiosity in various sideshows and circuses throughout the world. They later settled in the United States and became successful farmers (and slaveowners) in North Carolina. They were married to sisters and had a total of 21 children between them. Chang and Eng died on January 17, 1874.
