Description
Facinating framed mid/late 1800s composite engraving of the history of the leadership of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Importantly, this engraving includes a portrait of Francis Burns, a former indentured servant who became a church missionary in Libreria. He would eventually be elected the first ever African American bishop in the history of the Methodist church.
The engraving is in very good condition, with some minor edge wear largely concentrated in the top left corner. Housed in its original wooden frame.
[African-American History, Slave, Slavery, Abolition, 13th Amendment, Abolitionist, Emancipation Proclamation, Abraham Lincoln, John Brown, Frederick Douglass, Civil War, Union, Confederate, Document, Letter] [Uncle Tom’s Cabin, Harriet Beecher Stowe]
