Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, Guerrero State, Xochipala culture, Mesoamerican Formative Period, ca. 1500 to 900 BCE. A large hand-carved stone bowl resting on a flat base, the walls flaring dramatically upward forming a deep basin. The interior is smooth, highly polished with a mottled gray and warm orange-beige coloration. The exterior has a slightly rougher texture and nice root markings as well as the light remains / impressions of woven threads, suggesting this piece was wrapped in a textile- perhaps buried as a grave good. Size: 7.5" Diameter x 3.5" H (19 cm x 8.9 cm)
