Description

Beautiful Art Deco sterling compact with 14K and sapphire adornment. Lit with sun rays outer and mirror inside and inner lid over loose powder compartment. It is marked inside near mirror WAB STERLING & 14K. Measures 2.25" x 2.25" with an overall approx weight, 88g.

WAB, or Wordley, Allsopp & Bliss was founded in 1909, but Henry Allsopp appears to have begun around 1885. The company ran under the Wordley, Allsopp & Bliss name until 1938 when there was a merger with Arthur Steller becoming Allsopp-Steller. In 1956, Krementz & Co acquired. Stunning piece.

Condition

Compact appears in excellent condition with light wear consistent with gentle use.
