Description
This is an excellent powder horn from the French and Indian Wars era circa 1750-1760's from the Pennsylvania area. The piece exhibits a steer horn vessel with a wood carved cap end held into place with small iron tacks having an iron loop holding a copper loop bail which would have held a shoulder sling, long missing. The end or tip shows the powder opening with carved horn raised ridge. Pieces from this era are scarce with this being a nice representation. Good overall condition. Measures 12"L tip to end by approximately 3"D.
