Rare 19th Century Textile Sample Scrap Book III. Large cloth covered record book measures 18 inches high by 14 inches wide and 5 inches thick. Cover is marked "32, Borders, Florals, Calicos Geometrics, Figures 1881, 1882, 1883." Book contains 100 pages, covered on both sides with over 1,500 mostly cotton fabric swatches, including conversation prints, Liberty-style small florals, paisleys, indigo, mourning prints and more, average swatch size is 4 x 6 inches. This scrap book style collection contains mostly fabrics from 19th century, but the pages were likely assembled in the mid-1900s with remounted swatches. Many of the samples have adhesive stains and are loose in the book, pages are yellowed with foxing, some pages have crumbing edges and there is one loose edge.
