Beautiful Richard Gordon Stout oil canvas. 42 x 30 inches. Provenance: private owner.
Biography: 1934 - 2020. Richard Stout was born in Beaumont, Texas in 1934, coming to Houston in 1959. He studied at the Art Academy of Cincinnati and later at the Art Institute of Chicago (1957). He attained his MFA from The University of Texas at Austin in 1974. From 1959 to 1967, Stout served as an instructor at the Museum School, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. From 1969 until his retirement in 1996, he served as an instructor and associate professor of art at the University of Houston.Stout's works have been exhibited by museums in Denver, Oklahoma City and New Orleans as well as by museums in Texas, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, the Witte Museum, the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts, the El Paso Museum of Art and the Contemporary Arts Museum. In addition he has been exhibited at many university museums including The University of Texas at Austin, Southern Methodist University, Rice University, University of Houston, California State University, Long Beach and the University of Michigan.Richard Stout passed away on April 5, 2020.
