Description
This is the B. T. Batsford (London) and Charles Scribner's Sons (New York) 1913 publication of Louis Ambler's The Old Halls & Manor Houses of Yorkshire, With Some Examples of Other Houses Built Before the year 1700, with 91 Plates from photographs by Horace Dan and others, and with 20 Plates of Measured Drawings and numerous in-text illustrations.
The cover (app. 9.75" x 7.5"), green cloth with gold lettering and art, tan spine with gold lettering, is worn to the ends of the spine, which is cocked, and with a number of scuffs, most to the back (see photo).
The only attachment is a small bookstore (Brentano's) stamp at the base of the back inside cover. There are a few random pen marks to a small number of pages. Almost all have none. There is spotting to the end pages, and occasional light stains, but most pages have no notable stains to the faces. The gilt top edges are clean. The binding is fair, with no loose or detached pages, but with the binding visible at some gutters. The many illustrations and all text are clean and with no notable fade. The accompanying photos are of this set.
