Spanish Bargueno (or Vargueno), 16th/ early 17th C. with repairs and alterations, portable desk in the form of a wooden chest, case with elaborate pierced metal adornment including lion heads, rampant lion, shields, etc. remounted on new red velvet pads, flanking iron handles for carrying, newer finish to metal parts, interior with nineteen doors and drawers, decorations include carved shell pulls, doors with carved bone columns in full relief, polychrome accents, ample inlaid and gilt decorations, geometric motif, case united with front panel with three iron strap hinges, large check to front panel, raised on carved "pie de puente" small trestle table base with two pull support bars for front panel, spiral turned supports with intricately carved panel, missing finials, replaced boards to feet, etc., wear to case and base consistent with age and use including new velvet pads, remounted iron decoration, loose handle, re-gilding, checking of bone, checking of wood, large crack to front panel, old repairs, wormage, etc., sold as is, 60" h. x 43" w. x 18" d.
