Central Asia, Tibet / Nepal, ca. 19th to 20th century CE; Southeast Asia, Thailand, ca. early to mid-20th century CE. This is an outstanding necklace made from high quality 94% to 96% gold (equivalent to 22K+ to 23K+) chains and stone beads. The snake chain has a robust S-hook clasp and filigree / beaded segments along the length - ending with a pair of open dragon mouths! A wire is threaded through the coral and dizi beads- with a massive turquoise nugget resting in the center, this stone is lightly polished and uncut. The yellow-gold chain is a classic Thai craftsmanship, while the beads are from Central Asia and the Himalayan region, imbued with Buddhist symbolism in both materials and design.
