Description
The German Hunting Association was the official hunting society of Nazi Germany, led by Hermann Goring. Membership was mandatory for all persons with a hunting license. Offered here is a highly- detailed miniature cutlass with a 5.5 in. blade, 8 in. overall. The blade is etched on both sides with hunting motifs set between filigree patterns. Obverse of the blade is maker-marked ‘E. & F. HORSTER SOLINGEN’ on the ricasso, with original green buffer in place which is underneath the clamshell. The S-shaped crossguard is in the shape of a deer’s legs. The grip which bears the insignia of the association has been painted black. The scabbard which features an acorn at the top has been painted green at the middle. The painted sections of the sword and scabbard display moderate wear and the chrome finish of the sword is in very good condition only showing light wear at the tip. A very good example.
