Description:
2 (of 7) etchings on BFK Rives, one with aquatint. 14.6x8.4 cm (5¾x3¼"); matted together 32.5x32.5 cm (12¾x12¾").
Each etching signed by Hans Bellmer. Bellmer (1902-1975) was an anti-fascist German artist persecuted as a "degenerate" by the Nazi regime. Moving to France in 1938, he became active in Breton's surrealist circle. He is best known for the series of sexually suggestive dolls produced and photographed in the 1930's. The present pair of etchings are taken from Mode d'Emploi a book published in 1967 in an edition of 165 by éditions Georges Visat, Paris.
