Description
SN: 8635. Cal. 45-70. 28" oct bbl marked with standard second variation 2-line address on top flat and "45 Govt" at breech. Full magazine. German silver blade front sight and semi-buckhorn sporting rear sight. Heavy blued receiver. Case hardened hammer and lever. Mounted in nicely figured uncheckered walnut stocks with smooth steel buttplate and forend cap.
Condition
Very Fine. Rifle retains most of its factory blue finish with some sharp edge thinning on bbl and scattered light oxidation on magazine tube. Receiver blue shows some thinning at carry point and tang. Receiver sides show typical oxidation striations. Hammer shows vibrant case colors in protected areas. Lever, buttplate and forend cap colors have a turned silver-gray. Original wood finish is largely intact with typical handling marks and hand worn thinning at carry points. Crisp mechanics. Good bore with sharp rifling. A splendid example of the "Marlin Repeater". ANTIQUE.
