Buddhist mask is a vintage mid 20th century "Moonlight Bodhisattva" (translation of the back). In Buddhism, a bodhisattva or bodhisatva is a person who is on the path towards bodhi ('awakening') or Buddhahood. In the Early Buddhist schools as well as modern Theravada Buddhism, a bodhisattva refers to someone who has made a resolution to become a Buddha and has also received a confirmation or prediction from a living Buddha that this will be so. White metal mask is of the Goddess Tara, a Buddhist deity with numerous forms, the feminine counterpart of the bodhisattva (“buddha-to-be”) Avalokiteshvara.
