Description
Pair of patinated bronze bookends in the manner of Pierre-Jules Mene (French 1810-1879), modeled as opposing greyhounds or whippets on stepped marble bases and dark stained plinths, apparently unmarked. Note: These figures are partially modeled after Levrier a l'Eventail, "Plock" (Greyhound with a Fan, "Plock"), and Levrette Jouantaa la Boule, "Jiji" (Female Greyhound Playing with a Ball, "Jiji"), the originals having a fan and ball respectfully to the bases or each.
