Life-Size 6.5-ft Folk Art Hand-Carved Painted Cigar Store Indian. An exceptional of this rich folk art tradition. Figure with narrow feathered headdress, beaded necklace, and flowing frilled clothing holds bundle of cigars in one hand at side and what appears to be paper currency bills held forward in the other hand. Stylized depiction features unusually dark skin and long face with bright red lips and large, protruding eyes with black sclera and red-ringed white pupils. Figure is depicted leaning slightly forward, as if in the middle of a transaction. Handmade by an unknown carver from a single monolithic piece of wood with integral platform.

Dimensions are 77.75 in h x 18 in w x 12.5 in d. Condition is good, with richly worn texture to paint and several long, wide cracks following grain of wood, consistent with age and natural drying. Please call or email for a detailed condition report.Â
