Description

A Federal brass mounted parcel gilt mahogany and eglomise banjo clock
New England
early 19th century
The circular painted dial with Roman chapters, the lower eglomise panel inscribed HULL, with single train movement.
height 40 1/2in (103cm); width 10in (25.5cm); depth 4in (10cm)

Condition

Eagle finial with loss of gilding. Heavy wear and loss of lacquer to bezel and side struts. Scattered small losses to giltwood door surrounds. Heavy loss of gilding and looseness to apron and spheres. Wear and loss to paint decoration. General marks, nicks and scratches. Dial with heavy staining and loss of paint. Heavy dust in crevices. Not currently maintaining power. Working condition of clocks is not guaranteed.
