Description
Group of three lithograph prints by Maxfield Parrish (American, 1870 - 1966). One is of "Old King Cole" (1905), Parrish's large mural now found in the St. Regis Hotel Bar in New York city. Legend has it that Parrish depicted Old King Cole beset by flatulence, and his courtiers struggle to keep a straight face. Also, a small book plate print from the 1903 book, Poems of Childhood by Eugene Field. This print by Parrish has two large figures watching a young boy on a horse. Finally, a print entitled "Pierrot's Serenade" by Parrish, ca. 1908. From the 30 Famous Paintings series. Framed by the Parrish House of Aurora, CO. All are in pretty good condition, expected aging and wear. Old King Cole has wear around edges. All framed behind glass. Measurements: Old King Cole is about 24" wide by 6 1/2" tall (print), 25 1/2" wide by 10 1/8" tall by 1" deep (as framed). Book Plate is 5 1/8" wide by 7" tall (as matted), 7 7/8" wide by 9 7/8" tall by 7/8" deep. Pierrot's Serenade is 9 1/4" wide by 11" tall (as matted), 13 1/4" wide by 15 1/8" tall by 1 1/4" deep.Keywords: fancy, decor, decoration, art, artist, prints
