Description
An antique Japanese Meiji Era lidded enamel metal censer koro. Circa: late 19th century to early 20th century. The sphere form jar is enameled with an image of a bird and floral and foliage patterns made in the Cloisonne technique on a black ground, and inlaid with a Goldstone. The base and the neck are decorated with a traditional geometrical and cloud motifs. The censer is adorned with a technique of using metal powders to give a glitter effect to the enamel. Mounted on three legs. The lid is decorated with an openwork design. The bottom is covered with an enameled foliage pattern made in the Cloisonne technique on a cobalt blue ground. Unmarked.
