Description
DESCRIPTION: 1796 pattern Osborn and Co British heavy cavalry trooper sword with a German blade. The sword features an iron disc hilt, knuckle bow and backstrap with perforations, a ribbed black leather wrapped handle, an iron scabbard with two suspension rings, a straight blade presenting a wide fuller and thick spine.
Impressed at the scabbard near the mouthpiece "Osborn & Co Birmingham". Incised at the spine of the blade "JJ Runkel Sohlingen". Mark impressed at the side of the blades base "4" beneath a crown.
CIRCA: 19th Century
ORIGIN: England
DIMENSIONS: W: 4.5" L: 41.5", & Blade L: 34.37"
