Chinese Shagreen (rayfish or shark skin) covered, shaped rectangular box with red lacquer to interior, base and trim, a bronze lock plate and 2 hinges; together with a 1/2 incised Gourd shaped as a Wall Vase with panel sections forming the neck and foot, a small hole to flat back for hanging. Width of box 10 1/4 inches (26 cm.).

The box with age related wear, small flakes and minor shrinkage lines; the gourd with short flakes, cracks and shrinkage lines.
