Description
Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico to Guatemala, Proto-Maya culture, ca. 500 to 300 BCE. A hand-built pottery female figure of characteristically stylized form. The woman presents nude with arms placed atop her hips and rounded shoulders tapering to form the neckline. Classic Olmecoid details like rectangular, double-pupil eyes, an impressed mouth, and jowly cheeks comprise the facial features and illustrate the stylistic transition between Olmec and Maya artistry. Size: 3.75" W x 5.5" H (9.5 cm x 14 cm)

Condition
Restoration to both legs, with resurfacing and overpainting along new material and break lines. Abrasions and nicks commensurate with age, with light earthen deposits, and softening to some finer details. Nice preservation to female form.
