**First Time At Auction**
Central Asia, Tibet, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. A handsome cast brass depiction of the fierce guardian deity Chakrasamvara in tantric yab-yum with the female deity Vajravarahi. Yab-yum, literally meaning "man-woman," is the portrayal of the tantric sexual embrace between male and female divinities and represents the pacification of spiritual polarities. Thangka expert Ben Meulenbeld also explains that yab-yum is a "non-orgasmic action that is meant to express the elimination of duality" (Buddhist Symbolism in Tibetan Thangkas . . , p. 73). Size: 3.5" W x 5.15" H (8.9 cm x 13.1 cm)
Provenance: Estate of R. Pearson, Denver, Colorado, USA; Mr. Pearson collected from the third quarter of the 20th century until he passed away.

Condition
Slight bending to form of base with a few small losses on one side of it. Small nicks on surface commensurate with age. Light deposits in lower profile areas and nice preservation of details.
