Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 19th century CE. A beautiful and wearable collar necklace composed of eleven trapezoidal panels, two triangular panels, and one round panel, each with a three-dimensional abstract figure rising from it. All but the triangular panels have a seated Buddha; the two triangular panels have standing, dancing figures with tall headdresses and dangling cape-like items hanging down from their arms. The body of each Buddha is made of inlaid coral, comprising hundreds of pieces; purple glass inlays form each throne. The dancing figures and the round discs have inlaid blue glass designed to look like turquoise included in their motifs. Each figure is surrounded by a border of coral inlays; the disc and triangular panels have granulated brass wire in swirling patterns on their backgrounds as well. Wearable and incredibly striking! Size of full piece: 9.75" W (24.8 cm); neck is 4.5" (11.4 cm)
