Gorgeous 1st Model Luftwaffe Officer’s Dagger by Malsch, in exceptional condition. Nickle-silver fittings, the swatika pommel nut and cross guard in excellent condition with no appreciable damage and bearing an attractive patina. The underside of the crossguard also bears an engraving, possibly a squadron number: '3./Fea. 23.18' All of the blue leather on the dagger is original and virtually undamaged. The grip is excellent, with only a single spot of wear, and its wire binding is close to perfect. The blade is likewise excellent, showing only trace running lines. It bears a Malsch engraved maker's mark, as well as a Luftwaffe acceptance stamp. The leather on the scabbard, itself undented, is near perfect, the fittings tarnished but also very good to fine. With chain type hanger. A superlative example.
