Description
Ancient Greece, Cyprus, Cypriot culture, Iron Age, Cypro-Geometric Phase, ca. 900 to 750 BCE. A fine trio of pottery bowls from ancient Cyprus, all presenting sloped walls and an inward-curving rims. Supported by a discoid foot, the largest dish is hand-painted with black concentric circles encompassing the interior and exterior, while liberal remains of beige and red pigments additionally embellish the exterior. A pair of tubular, arched handles flanks the rim. Next, the mid-size vessel displays a planar base and a petite lug handle pierced with a suspension hole projecting from 1 side of the rim. Last, the most petite bowl is enveloped entirely in white slip with black-painted linear designs on the exterior, all sitting upon a round yet stable base. Size of largest: 9.1" Diameter x 3" H (23.1 cm x 7.6 cm)

Condition
Largest and most petite have been repaired with some chipping and losses along break lines and to rims. Chipping to foot of largest. Stable fissures to basin of mid-size vessel. All have nicks and abrasions, commensurate with age. Otherwise, mid-size is intact and other 2 have nice remains of pigments.
