England, 19th century. Porcelain armorial Briscoe crest plate with foliate gilt design and delicate flowers. Depicts a dog catching a hare at center. ht. 1.25, dia. 10.5 inches.
Overall good condition. Fine crack through face of plate and some loss to paint.
From the estate and lifelong collection of William Garrett Hodges (1946-2014). Hodges was a Virginia-based dealer of fine arts, with specialization in prints and rare books, having collected for decades. He supplied and consulted various groups on antiquities throughout his career, including the White House, the Vice President's residence, the FBI, and multiple film and television series.
