Description
London, England. Early 19th century. A pair of Corinthian sterling silver candlesticks. Bases are weighted. Stamped with an "L", crowned panther, lion, and backwards "C." ht. 12.75, wd. 5 inches. 3,021 grams combined.
Overall good condition. Contains two extra detachable nozzles that fit into the sconce.
From the estate and lifelong collection of William Garrett Hodges (1946-2014). Hodges was a Virginia-based dealer of fine arts, with specialization in prints and rare books, having collected for decades. He supplied and consulted various groups on antiquities throughout his career, including the White House, the Vice President's residence, the FBI, and multiple film and television series.
