West Asian ca. 2000 B.C..Light beige tone, dark to light brown matt slip. H. 27.2 cmThe large vessel with a distinctive shoulder and flared mouth stands on a round base. The shoulder is encircled with stripes of varying width and two hatched bands. Below, a metope-style frieze: two double axes, a star in a circle, three fields with double birds and herringbone stripes alternate. Belly and bottom are undecorated. Body intact; three small abraions on the lip. Partially scratched, brown discolored surface. Old label "No. 59 ..." on the inside edge.Formerly priv. coll. Prof. Hans Dahn (1919-2019), Lausanne.
