Unusual Large Set of Twenty-Two Gilt Louis XVI Style Dining Chairs, 20th c., consisting of two fauteuils with carved crests over oval upholstered medallion backs, to upholstered arms and bowed seats, nine with gold silk upholstery, and eleven matching side chairs in pale blue upholstery, Fauteuils- H.- 40 in., W.- 26 in., D.- 24 in., Sides- H.- 39 1/2 in., W.- 20 in., D.- 22 in. The overall condition of the chairs is consistent with age and use, showing various dings and scratches. The majority of chairs exhibit minor losses of gilding on the top back edge of the embellishments. Fraying of upholstery along the edge of the seat is present on most chairs. One chair has upholstery lifting at the top of the backrest and would benefit from repair. There are at least two instances of gold chairs with visible glue found along the trim.
