Comprising an Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences® nomination certificate awarded to Leonard Smith for Color Cinematography for The Yearling, 1947; a typescript petition, 1p. from members of the American Society of Cinematographers, signed, testifying to the high esteem in which they held Leonard Smith, the petition signed by 20 members of the ASC including Joseph Walker, Arthur Miller, Charles G. Clarke, Fred Wood Jackman, Victor Milner and others; an MGM Motion Picture Employee picture ID card issued to Leonard Smith in 1942; an American Society of Cinematographers membership card, issued to Leonard Smith in 1947; an MGM ID card for 1947; and an MGM Annual Membership Card for 1947; a leather wallet, the front tooled with monogram 'LS'; and a collection of 14 photographs, majority vintage black and white, including a black and white snapshot of Leonard Smith, Johnny Weissmuller and Johnny Sheffield (who played Boy) on the set of Tarzan Finds a Son!, 1939; an early photograph of Leonard Smith on set, 1920s; two black and white snapshots of Leonard Smith on set during the filming of The Yearling, 1946; and a black and white still photograph of Gregory Peck and Leonard Smith on the set of The Yearling, 1946; and a sterling silver trophy, with Bel-Air Country Club enamel crest, the trophy engraved 'Alphonzo Bell Tournament, 1942, L.M. Smith'.

Footnotes:
Leonard Smith was a prolific Cinematographer, working on his first film in 1915, the now lost silent film Battle Cry for Peace. He was nominated for an Academy Award® for his work on Billy the Kid, 1942, for Lassie Come Home, 1944 and for National Velvet, 1946, with his first win for The Yearling, his last movie in 1947. He was President of the American Society of Cinematographers from 1941 until his death in 1947.
