Ancient Pre Columbian Tairona Pottery Bowl c.500-1000 AD. Size 7 inches diameter. 4 1/2 inches high. Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Columbia, Tairona. This is a bi-chrome pottery flared rim bowl that stands on a low pedistal foot and has a crimped decoration around the lower rim of the bowl. The Tairona lived in what is today coastal eastern columbia and their descendants live in the mountains to the south. Bi-chrome vessels were glazed before firing, and were generally reserved for utilitarian uses. Provenance: Private Collection of S.C Enrique Sanchez, Archeologist.
