Notes: This bear-form support is cast copper, gilded throughout and inlaid with turquoise. Its forelimbs rest on its bent hind limbs. The miniature, and adorable, bear possesses elements of realism, with intricately carved hair and a lively demeanor. Bears were regarded as auspicious animals during the Han dynasty, and Han craftsmen became increasingly skilled at depicting the symbolic creature.
