Description

DESCRIPTION: Meiji bronze lidded censer featuring fenghuang (Chinese phoenix) form handles, elephant head form legs, and an open-work lid decorated with cloud designs and crowned with a koma inu ("foo dog"). Embellished on side is decorated with peacock, floral, and foliage designs in high relief. Censer is of one piece with a base finished with wave designs in relief on side and foliage designs in relief on underside.
