Description
William Calcott Knell (British, 1830-1880). An original oil painting on canvas. Titled, "Fishing Boats in a Breeze Off Ostend." A figurative sea landscape with boats, mariner figures, seagull bird forms, a crashing sea, and other forms. No apparent signature. Having handwritten gallery label to verso, with notation that the work was displayed at the Royal Academy and other exhibitions from 1848 to 1871. Presented in an ornate gilt frame.
Work Size: 8.5 x 15.5 in.
Dimensions: 14 X 21 X 2.5 in.
Condition: Good overall condition, having normal age related wear. Frame having moderate wear at corners and edges, with areas of loss. Estate fresh to the market.
