A Large Chinese Black Lacquered Five-Legged Wood Incense Stand, Xiangji
18th Century
清中期黑漆大香几
the circular paneled top supported a curved narrow waist, the apron carved in high-relief with with floret scrolls, the slender cabriole legs terminating in upward curling tendril feet set into a foot ring.
Height 35 1/2 x diam 28 in., 90 x 71.1 cm.
Property Sold to Benefit a Nonprofit Cultural Organization

Condition

The underside of the top panel with several age cracks, of which one carries through to the top, the surface showing rubbing to the lacquer and minor surface scratches and indentations throughout, some bruises to extreme edges. Soiling, particularly to the underside consistent with use and age. Together with an additional top panel, in stable condition with a narrow split across the diameter.
